Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Many years ago, there was a man that I knew who used to make knives for a living. He had a really nice shop that he had built out in his garage that was filled up with all of the blacksmithing tools that one would ever need. He had a hot forge, and a nice big anvil, and would spend many an hour crafting beautiful hunting knives for others. He made them for people all over the country, and would continue working on them until they were absolutely perfect. When they were finally finished, they were incredibly sharp, and would slice through things just like they were butter. It always amazed me how sharp he could get a fillet knife, because once he had put a really good edge on it, you could slice through a fish effortlessly.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
But when it comes to a knife, they are only so sharp because they can only pierce the flesh. The sharpest blade that you will ever find is the two-edged sword of God’s Holy Word. Unlike an earthly blade, it has the power to.pierce into the soul, as it plunges deep into the depths of ones conscience, to convicts sinners of all of their infidelities and iniquities.
Hebrews 4:12-13 (KJB) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
There are many soldiers throughout the world who are engaged in earthly battles, but the weapons that they use cannot be compared to the Sword of God’s Word. The soldier of God is engaged in a Spiritual battle, wielding the most powerful weapon of all. Those who attempt to resist it, are likened unto soldiers who are fighting against a machine gun with a musket, because there is simply no defense against it.
Ephesians 6:13-17 (KJB) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The teachings of Scripture are like having a box full of armor piercing bullets, and no matter how much Kevlar that you put on, it will never be enough protection, to cover up all of the secrets of ones conscience. Armor plating cannot protect people from the Sword of God’s Word, because it will pass right through to the soul and convict people of all of their hidden works of darkness. Men’s hearts can become extremely hardened through the deceitfulness of sin, but God’s Holy Word can penetrate through them all. It’s like having a diamond bit that can drill through the things that a carbine bit cannot even scratch, and the teachings of the King James Bible are so powerful and lethal, that it can shatter the soul like a piece of glass.
Jeremiah 23:29 (KJB) Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
The temporal weapons of this world will eventually age and grow old, and will be cast into the fire and melted down for scrap, but the Sword of God’s Word is the greatest weapon that has ever been, and will never be replaced.
When everything in this world grows old and fades away, God’s Word abideth forever. When the days become months, and the months become years, God’s Word abideth forever. When the Earth and everything in it is eventually burned up by God, God’s Word abideth forever.
Matthew 24:35 (KJB) Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Isaiah 40:8 (KJB) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
1 Peter 1:23-25 (KJB) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
There’s only so much that a knife can do, because in the end it can never compete against somebody with a sword. This is because they are completely outmatched. So when people rise up to fight against the teachings of Scripture, they enter into a battle that they will only lose in the end.
Revelation 19:15 (KJB) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
When Moses spoke the Word of the Lord to Pharaoh, he mocked it, pushing back against the authority of God’s Word. But the harder he resisted, the worse it got for him and his people. Even all of the combined earthly weapons of his entire army couldn’t even compete with God, who eventually consumed them all in the Red Sea. Over the years, many people have resisted the Word of God, even persecuting the men that God has sent to preach it. So because of this, God gave them over to a reprobate mind and many of them have gone completely insane because of it. People cannot fight against the Sword of God’s Word, and think that everything is going to come out good in the end. This is because God will strike back at them with great fury, and punish them deep inside the places that they cannot reach, the heart, the mind, and the conscience.
Men of God do not use Earthly weapons to fight their battles, because it is fought using the Spiritual Sword of God’s Holy Word. It is never to be trifled with, and can never be defeated, for it’s judgments are eternal, and will continue on long past the grave. Pharaoh underestimated God’s Word, but it cost him dearly, because he finally lost everything in the end. The Sword of God’s Word is the sharpest weapon ever known to man, and cuts far deeper than any edge you could ever put on,……..
