Thoughts of the Day 8/20/26

Luke 16:13 (KJB) No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Scriptures teach us that the love of money is the root of all evil, and it is so terrible that when people want it bad enough, they will do whatever they can in order to get more of it. In that state, they are chasing after wealth, rather than chasing after God. Many of them claim to be a Christian, and spend a few minutes in prayer when they go to bed every night, but the rest of the day they are hardcore devoted to all the meaningless activities in this world. Consider Moses, who could have had the throne of Egypt, including all of its fame and treasures, but he turned away from it all. He chose to become a simple and humble shepherd, in order to have more time available to seek after God. Faith is much more than listening to a sermon once or twice a week, it is seeking God every single day in your own personal lives. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him in this manner, after all, look what he did in the life of Moses. You cannot chase after God and money, because when people are driven to increase their own personal holdings, it only pulls them away from a close relationship with God. Think of all the things you could do during your day if you devoted yourself to God, but most people cannot do it, because everything is more important than Him. A God who loved them enough to lay down His own life for them and then this is the way they treat Him. A preacher doesn’t need to stand over people in order to get them to church, because if.people have no initiative to do that on their own, you can know that they really have no relationship with God in their private life. Heaven is going to be a place of Eternal praise and worship, but if people were honest with themselves, what they really worship are the temporal things of this world, chasing after unrighteous mammon, instead of devoting their lives to a closer relationship with the unseen things of God.

Psalms 31:23 (KJB) O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

Love for something causes you to want to be near it, and sincere love for the Lord Jesus will cause you to want to be close to Him in an ongoing personal relationship. You might care greatly for a wife, your children or even the closest of friends, but you must understand, it is Jesus who loved you so much, that He laid down His own life on the cross in order to provide you with something that nobody else could, the complete forgiveness of our sins before God. No matter what loving and kind deeds that you may do to others, this is the greatest act of love ever perpetrated upon this sinful world, and because of this, He is worthy of all of our love and attention. The Apostles loved Jesus so much that they were with the Lord all of the time, an example to each of us what it means when you truly love Him. As I have always said, love is a powerful emotion, but you must be very careful what you place it on. This is because the love for this world is a fruitless goal and belongs to the heart of the wicked. But the heart of righteous loveth the Lord, with a passion that will never be quenched.
