Sealed with the Holy Spirit
Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from the book of Acts.
Acts 2:38 (KJB) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The word “shall” expresses something that is going to happen, or the issuance of a firm decree about something. When you are baptized beneath the waters of Holy baptism, God shall grant you the free gift of the Holy Spirit, and completely wash away all your past sins. At that point, all of our iniquities are expunged, and we begin a brand new life as a child of God. But to receive the Holy Spirit, we must place our complete faith in the one who laid down His own life for us on the cross, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Galatians 2:20-21 (KJB) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
The Apostle Paul was once a Jewish Pharisee who was persecuting Christians, but he finally understood how much that Jesus loved Him. All of us are sinners, and it’s not that we loved God, but that He first loved us, and shed His blood
on the cross for our redemption.
1 John 4:7-13 (KJB) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
When God gives us the Holy Spirit, we are given Divine power from on high so we can defeat all the sins of the carnal nature, but we must listen to its guidance rather than listening to our sinful flesh.
Luke 24:49 (KJB) And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
But once again, you need to listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, because when you walk in the Spirit, you are not going to be fulfilling all the lusts of the flesh. Our precious Lord has been so kind and merciful towards us that we should serve Him with penitent and humble hearts.
Ephesians 4:29-32 (KJB) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Whenever you mail a letter to somebody else, you place it into an envelope and then seal it up. Each of our hearts are the same way, as God deposits the Holy Spirit deep inside of us when we place our faith in His only begotten Son Jesus.
Ephesians 1:11-14 (KJB) In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Even if somebody were to sin in the church, our lord Jesus is the propitiation for our iniquities, and through humble confession to Him and others, relationships can be restored.
1 John 2:1-2 (KJB) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Remember that all of the promises of God in Christ are yea, because it’s impossible for Him to lie.
2 Corinthians 1:18-22 (KJB) But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
Psalms 71:3 (KJB) Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
The Holy Spirit is an incredible Gift that is given to us by God, but now we must put on Christ each and every day, repenting from all of the dead works from our past, and becoming,…..
